EMC Unveils Next Generation Backup and Recovery Capabilities at EMC World
ORLANDO, Fla. (EMC World)

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today further extended the broadest portfolio of backup and recovery technology in the industry with the announcement of the world's largest single system virtual tape library (VTL), the latest versions of its industry-leading data de-duplication, replication and backup software, and new bare metal recovery capabilities.

Helping customer's to build tomorrow's information infrastructure, EMC today announced:

Charles King, Principal Analyst at Pund-IT, Inc. said, "Customers today are generating volumes of data that quickly overwhelm traditional backup architectures. There's simply not enough time for them to safely protect that information. EMC has been at the forefront of providing customers the tools and technologies necessary to redefine their essential backup, restore and archiving processes. Whether it's through the performance advantages of disk-based backup versus tape or innovative continuous data protection and de-duplication capabilities, EMC continues to successfully innovate and deliver leading solutions that address this major customer pain point."

David Donatelli, EMC's Executive Vice President of Storage Product Operations, said, "Backup has been a long-term challenge for customers and is one issue we hear about consistently, regardless of their size, industry or budget. It is even more challenging for them in the face of 60% annual information growth. The amount of information customers have to regularly back up can be up to five times that when you factor in duplicate copies. Customers are struggling to meet recovery point and recovery time objectives while making the backup process as efficient as possible."

Donatelli, added, "EMC has had great market success and has led the way with innovative new technologies that help customers address these challenges. We're expanding the industry's broadest portfolio of backup and recovery solutions even more with new cost-effective, high-end disk library systems and new versions of our leading software that will help customers protect and recover their information faster, easier and more reliably than ever before."
